Bucephalandra Capit

Bucephalandra pygmy Kapit, scientific name Bucephalandra pygmaea “Kapit”. Comes from hego-ekialdeko Asia from the island of Borneo It occurs naturally in the state of Sarawak on the island part of Malaysia. The plant grows along the banks of mountain streams under the canopy of a tropical forest, attaching its roots to shale rocks.

Known in the aquarium trade since 2012, but unlike another related species Bucephalandra pygmy Sintanga is not so widespread. The plant is quite small. The leaves are hard, tear-shaped, about 1 cm wide. Color berde iluna, almost black, underside with reddish hues. Young leaves are lighter in color and contrast with older ones. In the surface position, the stem is short, low, grows higher under water, vertically oriented.

Bucephalandra pygmy Capit is able to grow both in the surface and underwater position. It is considered a hardy and unpretentious plant, but it has a low growth rate. Able to grow only on a hard surface, not intended for planting in the ground. In favorable conditions, it forms many shoots, from which a continuous green “veil” is formed.
